COVID-19 ACTION PLAN

As Colorado and the United States have declared a state of emergency, Alternatives to Violence (ATV), is working to address the safety, health, and well being of survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking, as well as our staff and volunteers.

We recognize that many of the strategies discussed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as self-quarantine and social distancing, may be dangerous for survivors and their families. Additionally, fleeing unsafe situations may become more complicated and remaining in close proximity to abusive partners more dangerous. Domestic violence organizations are often working in difficult situations and responding to crisis; ATV is working diligently to make sure we can continue to provide a full spectrum of services, including support and safety planning, while following best practices and recommended protocols from the CDC and the WHO.

We want to assure victims and survivors of violence that immediate assistance from Alternatives to Violence remains available during COVID-19 related closures. ATV’s shelter and non-residential advocates are working with limited face-to-face interaction with clients, however are available by phone 24/7 as usual to provide needed advocacy. If you have an immediate need please call our Crisis Hotline at 970-880-1000.

To further limit personal contact, we will not be accepting non-essential in-kind donations at this time. However, now is a critical time to keep our SafeHouse stocked with essentials for victims. In lieu of products, please consider sending a monetary donation to coloradogives.org/alternativestoviolence/overview.

Unfortunately, because of government mandates, we will also be postponing our April 2, 2020 Purple Ribbon Breakfast. We hope to be able to reschedule when it is safe to do so.

While we greatly depend on events like the Purple Ribbon Breakfast to allow us to educate the community on domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking, and to raise funds to assist those who have been affected by violence, we must keep the safety and well being of our clients, volunteers, staff and supporters in mind.

PLEASE CONSIDER A DONATION

We ask that you consider making a donation to ATV to allow us to help those who need us most right now. Being home is not the safest place for everyone, and your support is critical at this time. Thank you for your belief in our mission and helping us during this very uncertain and unprecedented time.

Online donations can securely be made at www.coloradogives.org/alternativestoviolence/overview.

Cash or check donations can be mailed or dropped off at:
