Survivor Stories: In their own words
SARAH*
My husband had become addicted to prescription drugs and had become very paranoid and violent towards me. My only option to get away from the situation was to hide. I found ATV on the Internet, called them and spoke with someone over the phone. The women who work at this facility were there for me 24/7. In the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep and had anxiety I could speak to somebody without judgement. I was given a place (to stay) that was safe so that I could concentrate on the things I needed to do to begin rebuilding my life. Asking for help is not something I have ever been accustomed to, but through this experience I have learned that asking for help is what ultimately makes us successful during these times in our life... The encouragement did not end when I left ATV and it still continues. I know that if I need to talk to somebody I can call them at any time. ATV was the start for me to change my life, for this I am forever grateful...It was exactly everything that I needed it to be.
