Homeless Contribution Tax Credit (HCTC) – 25% Tax Credit

This is the first ever homeless-specific tax credit program! The Colorado Homeless Contribution Tax Credit provides a 25% state income tax credit to Colorado taxpayers who contribute to eligible homelessness-related projects within Colorado. The Alternatives to Violence SafeHouse residential program is an approved project. Gifts made to Alternatives to Violence of $100+ are eligible for the new Homeless Contribution Tax Credit. Additionally, any in-kind donation of $5,000 or more is eligible. (In-kind donations must be evaluated by a third party.)

IMPORTANT: To receive the credit, we must collect specific ID information securely.

  • For Individuals: Donors are required to provide the last four digits of their Social Security Number. If you would prefer not to share the last four digits, that gift would be ineligible to be certified for a tax credit. (A Colorado tax ID is not eligible.)
  • For businesses: A full Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) is required. This information is entered by the receiving nonprofit during gift processing and the certificate is issued by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) via encrypted email or by mail.
